Non Domestic Vacant Rating - Policy Evaluation

In 2009, the Department carried out an evaluation of the policy of rating vacant commercial premises.

This was a planned evaluation, given that it was five years since the policy had been put in place.

The attached report presents the results of this evaluation process, part of which included a consultation exercise

with stakeholders in order to determine their views on the impact and effectiveness of the policy.

Following this evaluation, the DFP Minister has decided to retain the policy. One change that has been made is to extend the

list of exclusions to include companies in administration.  The Minister sets out the way forward for the policy the attached press release.
